Airtel is offering its customers a chance to sing and win prizes through a song contest and campaign dubbed Airtel Trace Music Stars, which will see the overall winner walk away with £30,000 (KSh3.4 million).
The Airtel Trace Music Stars competition was launched through a collaboration between Airtel and Trace Music TV and aims to offer an opportunity and platform for Kenyans wanting to debut in the music scene but are unable to.
To compete, Kenyans are required to register as contestants by making a phone call to the number 0900 733 733, and sing during the phone call in order to be considered, before the set deadline on December 11, 2014. Recording a song through the service will cost a person KSh10 per minute.
After the song is recorded, it goes through a 3 judges jury who review the song to ensure it meets the required standards and does not contain any obscenity.
Thereafter a notification is sent to contestants through a text message confirming acceptance of the entry into the competition, with it a code through which friends can vote.
The code allows the contestant to track their performance on the website tracemusicstar.com, create a profile and also share with friends and fans for the voting process by sending the code through SMS to the number 33733.
