Airtel Kenya has announced an interesting free internet offer for all its prepaid customers. The new promotion dubbed ‘Good Morning’ will see all pre-paid Airtel customers enjoy completely free internet access on their phones every morning from 6am to 8am. To activate this daily offer, all you need to do is send a text with the word ‘Goodmorning’ to 544 and you will receive confirmation on your reward of free 80 MB data.
“This initiative is in response to insights from our customer surveys and we have responded by offering them greater freedom and access to superior quality communication and service on our network. We will make it easier and faster for our customers to access the internet everyday.’’ commented Mr. Shivan Bhargava, Airtel Kenya Managing Director.
Airtel Kenya will continue to offer customers with such value based offers to communicate conveniently with their friends and loved ones.
This service is available for customers both on the Facebook App and on m.facebook.com and has been seen as a move to counter the ‘Free Matatu WiFi’ initiative launched by Safaricom a few weeks ago.
This offer targets rush hour commuters who can be seen in Nairobi estates rushing to get to their places of work or schools in the morning hours. It will definitely help those stuck in traffic to kill time by providing free data to go onto Facebook and other favourite social netowkrs of their choice. This offer is somewhat superior to Matatu WiFi because it is not restricted to Matatu passangers. After the offer period, customers can get more data on their Airtel lines by dialing *544# for options.
If this doesn’t make you pre-paid Airtel subscribers wake up earlier than usual, I honestly don’t know what will. 🙂
