To reach the best startups in the region, PIVOT East has partnered with the tech hubs like Outbox and Hive Colab in Uganda, Kinu and Buni Hub in Tanzania, KLab in Rwanda, ICEAddis in Ethiopia, and C4DLab in Kenya mainly because of the reach and influence these hubs in their respective spheres.
The Judging: Semifinalists totaling 50 will be competing to be in the list of 25 exceptional mobile startups set to fight it out for market recognition and investor interest during the finals conference on 24th – 25th June 2014 in Nairobi.
Speaking on the competition, Ms. Magdalene Mulandi said that the bank will continue to take advantage of new technological innovations by supporting such initiatives whose focus is to empower enterpreneurs particularly the youth. She is the Head of Brand and Corporate Affairs at Chase Bank who are 2014 Gold Sponsors of the Pivot East Competition. In 2013, Chase bank launched Chase Mfukoni, a mobile banking application and USSD service which saw the bank scoop the Best Mobile Banking Solution Award in East Africa, in the recently held Annual Think Business Annual Awards.
