This is somewhat devastating news for loyalists of Nokia Sync service.
The email announcing the end of Nokia Sync came through yesterday to all registered Nokia mobile phone customers who had previously used Nokia services like Ovi to back up contacts on cloud using Nokia Sync.
Nokia was basically saying that anyone using Nokia Sync on Nokia Series 40, N9 and Symbian phones, a service that synchronizes contacts, calendar appointments and notes between your phone and the cloud is no longer going to work after 5th December 2014.
This means that anyone with data there needs to back it up (via export or migrate) elsewhere before this date or risk losing it forever.
The option given for Export or Migrate enables one to move their data to a Microsoft account which basically again reiterates the take over from Nokia in September 2013.
What happens to your data incase you did not see the email? Microsoft is very sensitive about user informaion and vows that all data stored in Nokia Sync will be destroyed following termination of the Nokia Sync service.
