Motorists in Kenya wanting to pay for parking space across Nairobi will have a new option of making payments to the county government, following a new service to be offered through Airtel’s mobile money platform.
Currently, parking fee in Nairobi and some of its environs is paid through the mobile platform Jambo Pay that was introduced to eliminate the use of paperwork, with the platform also allowing customers to also pay for any fines.
The new service will require customers using the Airtel network to dial the code *217#, after which they will follow the steps provided for in the menu or alternatively download the Nairobi County App that the parking personnel use to validate parking for customers.
Airtel is offering the service to its customers through collaborating with the County government of Nairobi and Jambo Pay, in a move to improve customer experience for its subscribers.
Paying for parking space in Nairobi has been hectic, with motorists having to waste a lot of time looking for parking attendants who have a tendency of going missing just at the time you need them, only to resurface when the motorist has dashed into a store to clump the car.
Now Airtel money seeks to provide Nairobi motorists with more comfort and flexibility by giving them another option where they can choose their preferred service provider when making parking fees payment through the Jambo Pay service.
How To Access The Service
Customers wanting to use Airtel Money platform to pay for their parking fees will have to start by creating a Parking Wallet through dialing the code *217#.
The service will require the customer to enter their names, ID number, Year of Birth and a PIN for authentication.
After successfully creating the wallet, the customer will then be needed to top up their new parking wallet by visiting their Airtel Money accounts.
From the account Menu, customers will be required to select the Pay Bill option and use the number 147147 as the Business name, followed by the customer’s mobile number for the Account number section. Then authentication will be required from the set pin.
